At Urban Form, we approach our Design & Construct journey a little differently to most builders...

In essence, this process brings you, your chosen architect or building designer, and Urban Form together from the very start – working as one team through the schematic and entire design process. Having a builder involved alongside your architect ensures your vision is developed with realistic construction costs in mind from day one.

We passionately believe that this collaborative, ‘round table’ approach is key to achieving the best client experience, and strongest possible project outcome. 

It makes sense to surround your project with a full team of professionals from the get-go. You’ll benefit from the combined industry expertise of both architect and builder, ensuring every decision is made with confidence, the end goals are explicit, and communication flows seamlessly. By selecting your designer and builder as a team from the outset ensures that the design being developed is on budget and maximises all the building efficiencies it can so that it is truly buildable.

This early collaboration leads to well-informed, buildable solutions – significantly reducing the risk of costly redesigns. Furthermore it also provides the opportunity to try, test and build a strong communication system well before construction begins.

How it works

Engaging an architect and builder from the onset is a straightforward process. As the client, you simply enter into separate agreements with each party. The architect provides their service details and fees and Urban Form provides our consultancy service details and fees separately. This structure ensures both the architect and builder work directly in your interests. Importantly, you are not locked into choosing Urban Form as the builder for the construction stage – though, naturally, we’d love to continue the journey with you.

We typically start with an initial on-site meeting. This allows us to assess your site, answer all your questions, and – just as importantly – gives you the chance to decide if we’re the right fit for you.

Following this, Urban Form will prepare a tailored consultancy proposal based on your specific project needs and requirements, setting the stage for a smooth and collaborative design process.
